Overview
What is Somatic Dance?
Your body holds more wisdom than your mind gives it credit for. Ecstatic dance is somatic release — letting your body unwind and express itself freely.
Ecstatic dance is a somatic release experience — a space where you can let your body unwind and express itself freely, without steps to learn, no partners required, and no performance expected. Just you, the music, and whatever your body needs to move. Dancing is one of the most regulating things you can do for your nervous system.
How does it work?
There's a facilitator (a DJ or guide) who curates a musical journey — often building from slower, grounding rhythms at the start, rising to more energetic and euphoric peaks, then easing back down into stillness. The arc of the music guides the arc of the experience. You might sway gently, shake, spin, lie on the floor, or move in ways that look nothing like "dancing." The practice explicitly removes the performance aspect — you're not dancing for anyone.
Perfect for
No experience needed; especially good for those looking to reconnect with their body, release tension, and move from a place of authenticity.
